In
a sea of information (and mis-information!)
you need the NI Ark. This new edition - NI
Ark 2003 - includes the full text
of 20 years of New Internationalist magazines,
from Jan 1983 through to Dec 2002. You can
read all of the magazines on-screen from the
CD-ROM or simply use it as a high-speed index
to your printed back issues of New Internationalist
magazine.
Looking for some background on Iraq? Simply
go to the Mega Index on the NI Ark
and you’ll find a range of important
historic articles: - A profile of the country
as it stood in 1988.- A complete 1992 issue
of NI "The Gulf in flames" on the
impact of the 1991 Gulf War.- A complete 1999
issue of NI on the impact of the UN sanctions
that devastated Iraq, plus a subsequent piece
on the resignation (in protest at the sanctions)
of a key UN staff member.
You’ll be able to locate the articles
immediately in your library of back issues
of NI. Oh dear, you don’t have them
neatly filed in NI Binders? No problem: Simply
double click and go straight to the article
on-screen.
What's new?In this new NI Ark 2003
we’ve added all of the 2002 editions
of NI, another great year of engaging and
useful magazines. It’s well worth looking
back over NI’s assessment of subjects
from West Papua to Israel & Palestine;
from Refugees to Dissent in America; from
AIDS to Patents on Life and much more. But
we’ve also added more of our older magazines,
right back to 1983. This gives a unique research
and learning opportunity through the ability
to track changes in development thinking and
practice.
The magnificent hand-edited Mega Index - fully
linked so you jump straight to the articles
- now has over 23,000 entries, covering 20
years of NI magazines. Look, for example,
under Country Profile - Zimbabwe, and you’ll
find an NI profile from July 1990, and then
a re-visit in May 2001. This long time-scale
of the NI Ark 2003 enables easy research on
the progress of nations towards social justice.
