moral high ground? - (michaelhusayn)

"If Western countries become complacent or complicit in allowing arbitrary arrest, torture and extra-judicial killings they will lose the moral high ground in the battle against extremist violence." This passage left me dumbfounded! The "...west" NEVER had the moral high ground. Since it first came into existence, the United States has been using state terrorism to impose it's political and or economic agenda on one group of people or another. Point out to me one period in history when the U.S. was not directly or indirectly involved in the exploitation of another people. I dont know if people just dont know history, or if they choose to believe that all of the sudden, after 200 years of state terrorism being official foreign and domestic policy, the U.S. has suddenly become the sole promoter of peace, justice, and human rights throughout the world. It's astounding.
