Agribusiness is BIG business

Oh yes!

In 1998, Agribusiness was worth $31 billion.

Most of the agrochemical industry is controlled by a small number of very large corporations:

  • the top 10 agrochemical corporations control 73% of the world market in pesticides;
  • the top 20 agrochemical corporations control 93% of the world market in pesticides.

And these corporations often merge with each other to form even bigger and more powerful corporations.

For example:
   Novartis and Zeneca are planning to merge;
   AgroEvo and Rhone-Poulenc are planning to merge.
These two new corporations will be the biggest agrochemical companies in the world.

When two things MERGE, they join together and become one.
