Here is a 'meal' made up of the six ingredients
featured in this magazine - maize/corn, sugar,
soybeans, rice, bananas and cocoa.
There are maize/corn snacks to begin with and drinks
(which all use sugar),
followed by soya bean dishes accompanied by rice in various guises and desserts
made with bananas and cocoa (chocolate).

Corn cakes, served with cream cheese or guacamole (avocado
dip)

Maize/corn beer, rich and nourishing
RICE WINE
FROM CHINA
Tastes a little like dry sherry, usually served warm
CHAMPURRADO
FROM MEXICO
A chocolate drink made with cornstarch, chocolate and cinnamon
BANANA TODDY
FROM INDIA
Sour taste and very strong
RUM PUNCH
FROM THE CARIBBEAN
White or dark rum, a touch of sugar and plenty of fresh lime juice
SOY MILK
FROM EAST ASIA
Full of protein, and very refreshing

Soybean-curd, beansprouts, baby sweetcorn, snow peas, carrots, spring
onions, ginger and cashew nuts, flavoured with soy sauce.

Mashed bananas in a light rice batter mixed with a little sugar and nutmeg
