The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund have imposed a series of
draconian economic measures on debt-ridden Third World economies to ensure
they can continue to pay. Industrial countries have voluntarily adopted similar
if less severe measures to enhance their global competitiveness. This special
NI map surveys the damage to people and nature.
